Prognosis

Due to the diagnosis of chondrosarcoma, the long term prognosis for Tessa was poor as long term survival is uncommon with chondrosarcoma. Even with the tumour being resected, metastasise to the lungs are common and survival is often estimated to be approximately 4 months. However, Tessa had the mass for at least 2 years, possibly longer and therefore taking into account the patient’s age and health status, a prognosis was made and recorded at 2 ½ - 3 years (Walker, 2010)
