Fluid Calculations

Maintenance Rate Calculation
Rate = 60mLs X Dogs weight = 8.3kg = 498mLs per day
498mLs per day / 24 hours = 20.75mLs per hour (rounded to 20.7mLs per hour).

Surgical Rate Calculation
Rate = 10mLs X Patient weight = 8.3kg = 83mLs per hour

Reservoir Bag Calculation
Weight X 10 X 5 or 6

8.3 X 10 X 6 = 498 – Therefore a 0.5L bag must be used.
